In their next major action blockbuster, Netflix is enlisting Charlize Theron once again, following her excellent turn in The Old Guard franchise. Netflix has been on a roll with its weekly movie releases. Recent hits such as Thrash and War Machine have proven that the streamer’s bet on making movies for home viewing is paying off. Apex, the new film, is officially arriving on the streamer this week.
Events in the film take place in the Australian wilderness. Theron plays Sasha, a grieving woman who tests her limits in one of the world’s most dangerous ecosystems. However, the topography and fauna might be the least of her concerns when she begins a deadly game with a ruthless predator. While known for playing American characters, Carry On star Taron Egerton dons his best Aussie accent to play Ben, the ruthless predator living his caveman fantasy by pretending that she is prey. Eric Bana (Tommy) also stars in the thriller, directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by Jeremy Robbins.
