“You keep saying this is the ending of your story, but it’s the beginning of mine!” Persimmon has revealed an official trailer for an indie film titled Captain Tsunami, from director Aaron Sherry making his feature directorial debut. This premiered at the 2025 Dances With Films Festival last year and will be out to watch on VOD at home later this month. When a runaway 12-year-old arrives at his door with a mysterious comic book left by the woman he once loved, a reclusive comic shop owner must confront his own past, and decide whether the story she left behind is fantasy, or the key to saving what remains of their fractured family. The screenplay is written by P.J. Marino, who stars in the film as Glenn, the quiet comic book shop owner. It also stars Madeline McGraw, Craig Frank, Tessa Munro, Archie Kao, & Jeremy Sisto as “Captain Tsunami” himself. This looks sweet and charming and fun and wholesome – we always need stories like this.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Aaron Sherry’s film Captain Tsunami, direct from YouTube:

Quiet comic shop owner Glenn’s (P.J. Marino) life is upended when twelve-year-old Emma appears at his door carrying artwork left by her missing mother, the woman Glenn loved. As they search for answers hidden inside a mysterious comic, the two form an unexpected bond that challenges grief, belief, and whether imagination can heal a fractured family. Captain Tsunami, also titled Captain Tsunami’s Army, is directed by American indie filmmaker Aaron Sherry, an indie producer (Dead and Gone, Reversion) directing his first feature film. The screenplay is written by actor P.J. Marino. It’s produced by Jim Wareck, Amy Bloom. This initially premiered at the 2025 Dances With Films Festival. Persimmon releases Sherry’s Captain Tsunami film direct-to-VOD starting on April 23rd, 2026 coming up this spring. Look any good?
