FIDE Candidates 2026 Open Section: Sindarov plays a quick draw with Nakamura to extend lead in standings

It was in stark contrast to his fifth-round outing, when Hikaru Nakamura (5.5) took over an hour for a single move, as his Round 12 clash against Open section leader Javokhir Sindarov (9) ended in a draw in under 45 minutes on Sunday. Anish Giri (7) was also held by Wei Yi (5.5), allowing Sindarov to head into the rest day on Monday with a two-point lead.

Sindarov opened with 1. d4, and the game soon transitioned into a Catalan-style setup with g3 and Bg2. Nakamura chose a solid theoretical line, conceding central space but gaining the bishop pair.

Between moves nine and 26, the players exchanged queens and most of the minor pieces. By move 26 (Rd1 Rxd1), the position had been stripped of its major attacking potential. Sindarov held a slightly better king position, but Nakamura’s bishops provided sufficient compensation.

With little scope for progress, both players shuffled their pieces before agreeing to a draw.

On the other board, GM Anish saw a golden opportunity to climb the standings slip through his fingers. Dominating much of the mid-game, Giri steered the match into a highly favourable endgame where a full point seemed inevitable. His strategic pressure forced Wei Yi into a desperate defensive shell.

However, the tide turned during the frantic final scramble. Under severe time pressure, Giri fumbled his advantage by failing to find the clinical killing blow.

Instead of tightening the noose, a series of repetitive checks allowed Wei Yi to escape. By move 77, with neither side able to break the deadlock, Giri was forced to settle for a frustrating draw via threefold repetition.

Other results saw India’s R. Praggnanandhaa draw against Andrey Esipenko, while Matthias Bluebaum held Fabiano Caruana to a draw.

Logitech PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE Mouse Debuts With Haptic Click System, 44K DPI

The gaming mouse world has pretty much been the same for the last few years, with the only real improvement being weight savings. Now, Logitech has just introduced a new high-end gaming mouse in India, the Pro X2 Superstrike, and it’s bringing something genuinely new to the table. With it, the company is trying to rethink how mouse clicks work entirely, replacing traditional mechanical switches with a new system designed for faster response and better control. Here’s what you need to know about it.

A New Way to Click

The biggest highlight of the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE is its Haptic Inductive Trigger System (HITS), which ditches conventional microswitches in favor of inductive analog sensing paired with real-time haptic feedback.

In simpler terms, clicks aren’t just registered—they’re felt instantly. The system allows players to adjust the sensitivity of each click, with multiple actuation levels and reset points to suit their playstyle. Whether you prefer quick taps in FPS games or more deliberate clicks in strategy titles, the mouse can be tuned accordingly. Logitech claims this setup can reduce click latency by up to 30 milliseconds, and if this is true, it’ll reshape the landscape altogether. We have the Pro X2 for testing purposes, so keep an eye out for the full review dropping soon.

Beyond the click tech, the PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE packs serious hardware. It features Logitech’s HERO 2 sensor with up to 44K DPI and supports an 8K polling rate, meaning it sends data to your PC every 0.125 milliseconds. The mouse is also capable of tracking extremely fast movements, with support for high acceleration and precise tracking even during rapid flicks. Despite all that, Logitech has kept the weight down to around 65 grams, making it suitable for long gaming sessions without fatigue. It also includes PTFE feet for smoother gliding and a battery life of up to 90 hours, which should easily last through extended sessions.

The Logitech G PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE will be available in India in a Lunar Eclipse color option, priced at ₹23,995.

#Logitech #PRO #SUPERSTRIKE #Mouse #Debuts #Haptic #Click #System #44K #DPIlogitech,logitech g

Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee/Image of Sport-Imagn Images Former San Diego Chargers linebacker and College Football Hall of Famer Billy Ray Smith Jr. died on Wednesday at age 64, his family announced. “It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of our beloved Billy Ray Smith Jr., who passed away peacefully surrounded by family,” the family statement read. “Billy Ray faced his long journey with dementia caused by CTE with unmatched bravery, dignity, and strength. “Billy Ray brought so much joy, light, and laughter to the world as a devoted father, husband, son, and loyal friend. On the NFL gridiron for a decade with the Chargers, and decades that followed in sports broadcasting, Billy Ray earned deep respect from teammates, colleagues, and fans, who he cherished in return.” The son of Super Bowl champion defensive end Billy Ray Smith Sr., Smith Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps at Arkansas, where he was a two-time All-American for the Razorbacks before San Diego drafted him fifth overall in the 1983 NFL Draft. He played his entire 10-year pro career for the Chargers, amassing 26.5 sacks, 15 interceptions and 13 forced fumbles in 126 games and earning a spot on the franchise’s 50th anniversary team in 2009. “To know Billy Ray was to love Billy Ray,” Chargers owner Dean Spanos said in a statement. “Yes, he was a member of our 50th Anniversary team. Yes, he was a Charger for life, playing his entire 10-year career here. But he wasn’t merely a great football player. He was, truly, larger than life. Always smiling. Lighting up every room he walked into, infectious laughter. The kind of friend a friend should be. That was Billy Ray. “When someone who brought so much positivity into the world leaves us, it’s hard to process. Hard to accept. That’s how I feel right now, and I know I’m not alone. Billy Ray loved his family, loved the Chargers, loved his teammates, loved his community and loved helping those in needs. And we all loved him back.” After his playing career, Smith spent time as the sports director at San Diego’s ABC10 News, as a radio host in the area and as a broadcaster on college and professional football games. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Hunt, and their daughter, Savannah. –Field Level Media #Deadspin #Chargers #great #college #Hall #Famer #Billy #Ray #Smith #diesMay 10, 2012; San Diego, CA, USA; San Diego Chargers former linebacker Billy Ray Smith speaks as LaDainian Tomlinson listens at the Celebration of Life for Junior Seau at Qualcomm Stadium.
