First Behind-the-Scenes Tease for ‘A Minecraft Movie Squared’ Sequel

“We are taking you so much deeper into the Minecraft world. New biomes, new characters, and of course, new mobs along with some of favorites – like these creepers.” They’re back! Warner Bros & Minecraft have revealed a behind-the-scenes first look teaser for the next A Minecraft Movie sequel due out in July 2027. During a Minecraft Live broadcast today, the two stars Jack Black & Jason Momoa appeared together from the set down in New Zealand. Aside from teasing the highly anticipated video game movie sequel, they also revealed the official title: A Minecraft Movie Squared. Instead of A Minecraft Movie 2 or the other A Minecraft Sequel. “We’ve revealed the title of our sequel to A Minecraft Movie… and some of the celebrity talent that will help make it awesome, including Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Kirsten Dunst, and Danielle Brookes.” The company behind the game series, Mojang Studios, also revealed a contest connected with the movie. The winning build from the game will appear in the movie (though maybe only in the end credits) along with private screenings for finalists. They only say to make something “awesome” in a private map. A super fun intro to this upcoming sequel! I’d like to view more behind-the-scene teases while they’re filming.

The sequel screenplay is written by Jared Hess and Chris Galletta. It’s produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Roy Lee, Eric McLeod, Jason Momoa, Kayleen Walters, Torfi Frans Olafsson. Made by Legendary Pictures, Mojang Studios, Vertigo Entertainment, On the Roam. The sequel is filming down in New Zealand with support by Weta. Warner Bros debuts Hess’ A Minecraft Movie Squared sequel in theaters worldwide starting on July 27th, 2027 next summer. Who’s excited to return for more?
