First Look Teaser for Horror ‘Victorian Psycho’ Starring Maika Monroe

“Can you feel it rolling around inside you – squeezing, squeezing hard.” Bleecker Street has revealed their first look teaser trailer for Victorian Psycho, a kick ass horror comedy thriller from filmmaker Zachary Wigon arriving to watch in theaters this fall. The film premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival today (I saw it there – and it’s fantastic!) which is why this teaser is dropping at the exact same time. An entertaining spin on American Psycho but set in Victorian times. In 1858, an eccentric young governess, Winifred Notty, arrives at the remote gothic manor Ensor House. As Winifred assimilates and begins her job, staff begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners wonder if something is amiss with this new arrival… These strange happenings stir suspicion that Ms. Notty not what she seems. Starring Maika Monroe as Winifred Notty, along with a tremendous cast: Jason Isaacs, Thomasin McKenzie, Ruth Wilson, Evie Templeton, Jacobi Jupe, Amy De Bhrún, Paul Reid, and Katherine Moran. This film is an especially clever, dark & twisted Victorian horror comedy with a set of terrific performances that make it entirely worth watching. In the Year of our Lord 1858, an unusual governess named Winifred Notty (Maika Monroe) arrives at the gothic manor known as Ensor House. Winifred’s responsibilities include teaching the children manners and educating them about their family history – all whilst hiding her own psychopathic tendencies. As staff members start disappearing, the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there may be something amiss with their new governess… Victorian Psycho invites us into the mind of a psychopath – trapped in a world she cannot control, living on the border between insurrection and total madness. Victorian Psycho is directed by American indie genre filmmaker Zachary Wigon, director of the films The Heart Machine and Sanctuary previously and a few other shorts. The screenplay is written by Virginia Feito. Produced by Dan Kagan, Sébastien Raybaud, Nick Shumaker, Elizabeth Siegal, & Zachary Wigon. The film just premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival playing in the Un Certain Regard section. Bleecker Street releases Wigon’s Victorian Psycho in select US theaters starting on September 25th, 2026 this fall. Who wants to watch?
