Smart lighting may be the quickest and easiest way to transform a space. We at WIRED have been writing about it more and more recently because it can spruce up your home decor and bring a futuristic feel, enhance your entertainment with synced lights, or just change the vibe of a space for less than a total home renovation. Lighting brand Govee has quickly become one of our favorite brands for smart lighting because of their versatile and affordable range. We’ve extensively tested Govee products, and we feel as though there’s a Govee smart light product for pretty much every need, room, or vibe.

How Can I Get a $5 Govee Discount Code?

When you register your email, you’ll get a $5 Govee coupon on your first order, just apply the code at checkout. Why not give the gift of good lighting? When you refer a friend, you can also get a $5 discount. As you know, sharing is caring, and the referred friend also receives $5 off their purchase. (Both must be first-time purchases at Govee to qualify.)

Govee Christmas Lights

We love Govee’s smart lights, and we think they are the best budget smart christmas lights. Govee has tons of different Christmas lights and styles for whatever your holiday vibe is—from the classic Christmas Sparkle String Lights, now on sale, to the sweeping Curtain Lights, to an Outdoor Decoration Projector Light for movie nights, Govee has you covered on all of your holiday lighting needs this season.

Highlighting our Favorite Govee Lights

Govee’s expansive lineup can be a bit confusing, but we have a handy guide on what the deal with each smart light is, and what type of room (and person) will work best for which light. We named the Govee M1 LED Light Strip as the best overall for its blazing bright, vibrant color LEDs and its surprising affordability—this light strip is perfect for recessed areas in your home.

We also named the Govee Glide Hexa Pro 3D Panels as our pick for best panels. If you’re looking to seriously up the hypnotizing-yet-chill stoner-esque aesthetic, we like these panels for their unique animated effects and ability to sync to music or connect to your existing RGB gaming setup. Speaking of gaming, we named the Govee AI Gaming Sync Box Kit the best lights for gaming, which reviewer Simon Hill praised as “easily one of the best smart lighting options for gamers.” He rated it as an 8/10 WIRED Recommends for its vibrant colors, accurate screen syncing, versatility, ability to customize, and as a plus, it works with Google Home or Amazon Alexa.

The Govee Envisual T2 is the best light for your TV, as it syncs lights to what’s happening on your TV to turn your living room into your own personal IMAX-esque experience. Prefer being outside? We named the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro as our favorite outdoor light, even putting it in our Best Christmas Lights guide. We liked the ability to customize the lights via app, which has a wide choice of animated scenes covering different holidays, tons of colorful styles, or you can opt for a classic white light for a classy look.

Save on Govee Lights All Year Long

Govee also offers education discounts, including student, graduate, and teacher discounts for up to 12% off. To get the Govee discount, you’ll just need to verify your status through Student Beans and Beans iD. Key workers also get Govee discounts, for 12% off for military and healthcare personnel. Nintendo says that it’s “based” on the classic space shooter Star Fox 64, but with redesigned characters and upgraded visuals. Essentially, it sounds like a modern remake of the game with the same level design. Based on the first look at the game, it looks thoroughly modern, with incredibly detailed characters, including a surprisingly realistic Slippy Toad. And yes, the in-ship banter remains. In addition to flying ships, there will be a handful of other vehicles to pilot, including a submarine.

The Star Fox reboot also includes some new features, like online play for its new four-on-four dogfighting multiplayer battle mode, and the option to play with mouse controls. Perhaps the most surprising addition is the realistic character avatars that players can use during online play. Nintendo describes the features as an “interactive avatar that mirrors your expressions and movements in GameChat.” But if you’re looking for an old-school feel, the game does support the N64 controller.

The game will cost $49.99 digitally, according to Nintendo’s eShop listing. The physical price is expected to be different; Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, for example, has a $10 price difference between digital and physical.

You can watch the full Star Fox presentation, which lasts about 15 minutes, here:

The announcement comes as Nintendo has a relatively sparse lineup for the Switch 2 for the rest of 2026. Outside of Star Fox, the only first-party titles on the schedule are Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Rhythm Heaven Groove, Splatoon Raiders, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.

Update May 6th: Added the digital price.
