The next phase will offer new inventory across all Olympic sports and a range of price points, according to the organizing committee.

“The response to our initial on-sale was nothing short of historic,” LA28 Chief Executive Officer Reynold Hoover said in a statement.

LA28 said 95 per cent of tickets priced under USD 100 were sold during a presale for residents of the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City areas, and about 500,000 tickets priced at USD 28 were purchased by local buyers. Some residents, however, have complained about high prices, fees and limited availability during the presale.

ALSO READ | Olympic cricket venue takes shape as LA28 countdown begins

GLOBAL DEMAND

Organisers said tickets were sold in 85 countries and across all 50 U.S. states and territories, with the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico and Japan among the top international markets.

The organising committee said women’s Olympic sessions sold at a higher rate than men’s sessions in the first drop, while artistic gymnastics was the fastest-selling sport. US President Donald Trump told the BBC on Thursday that British King Charles’ coming state visit to the United States could “absolutely” help rebuild strained ties between the two countries.
Charles heads to the US on Monday for a four-day trip, with transatlantic tensions over the Iran war and scandals linked to the late US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein threatening to intrude on the landmark visit.
Asked by the BBC whether Charles’s visit could help repair the relationship between the US and UK, Trump told the BBC: “Absolutely. He’s fantastic. He’s a fantastic man. Absolutely the answer is yes.”
Charles will be making his first state visit to the US as a monarch, at the request of the UK government and Trump.
He will travel to the US with Queen Camilla and then visit Bermuda alone.

Trump has harshly criticised British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for not joining the US-Israeli war on Iran, launched on February 28.
