We’re a little over a month away from “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” hitting cinemas, and with it comes a new take on Tom Holland’s Peter Parker as his powers become heightened and more spider-esque in nature.
At the same time, the multi-dimensional shenanigans of the last entry are being switched out for a more street-level adventure with multiple villains, including Scorpion, Boomerang, Tarantula, Tombstone and The Hand.
The main villain appears to be Sadie Sink’s character rumored to be Jean Grey, but that’s not confirmed as yet. Either way, the film is expected to end in a way that will explain Parker’s absence from “Avengers: Doomsday” while setting up a likely return in “Avengers: Secret Wars”.
During a recent interview with El Hormiguero, Holland was asked about what’s next for Peter beyond this film, he says:
“All I can say is that the future of Spider-Man is really bright, and we have plans to introduce really exciting new characters. How will they do that? We don’t know yet, but that’s how it will be, and it will be awesome.”
Asked about his character appearing in either of the next “Avengers” films, he says:
“I don’t know much about those movies. By nature, I have a reputation for spoiling certain things, and the studio is keeping the juicy details from me, but I’m very curious. What does that mean for Peter? How does that work? I think it’s really cool. I’m very excited.”
Sony Pictures hasn’t announced plans for a fifth “Spider-Man” but news of the character’s future is expected to be shared at the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” panel at next month’s San Diego Comic-Con. The film itself opens July 31st.
