Bijou Phillips has the unwavering support of her boyfriend, Jamie Mazur, while she navigates her ongoing health battle.
“He’s amazing. He’s, you know, on lots of group texts, and he’s constantly he’s pushed me a lot to really try and find a kidney,” Phillips, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly in her Friday, February 27, cover story. “I just am like, ‘Oh, well, this is how it is. It’s whatever.’ And he’s like, ‘No, call the doctor again and call this person again and call this [number] again. Why hasn’t this been done yet?’”
She continued, “He gets me to, like, fight where I wouldn’t probably have fought.”
Phillips revealed earlier this month that she was born with underdeveloped kidneys and needed a second transplant. (The actress-singer, who first underwent a transplant in 2017, is now on dialysis while searching for a donor.)
“My boyfriend, Jamie, has been wonderful, and all of my friends,” she further gushed to Us. “I have just such a great group of friends. They’re amazing. We’re all in group chats and, you know, plotting.”
Us previously confirmed in 2024 that Phillips began dating Mazur, 44, after her split from Danny Masterson. Phillips filed for divorce in September 2023 shortly after Masterson, 49, was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison over a sexual assault conviction and denied all accusations.

Mazur shares two children with ex-fiancée Alessandra Ambrosio, while Phillips and Masterson are parents of 12-year-old daughter Fianna. According to Phillips, Fianna is the reason she’s fighting so fiercely for a transplant and to get better.
“Because I’m it. I’m all she’s got and she’s 12, so it’s a different world,” Phillips told Us. “She’s the strongest little human. She’s amazing. She’s brilliant. She’s a great piano player and songwriter, and she does phenomenal in school — and she’s very cool, way cooler than me.”
She added of her daughter, “She’s a really wise human and I’m so proud to be her mother. She’s brilliant, and so, she has a way of, like, she takes things that are really hard in life, and she handles them in this really classy way. She’s just a wonderful human. She’s been really strong and she’s beautiful.”
Phillips’ health battle has even brought her and Fianna “closer together” than ever before.

“It’s also shown me, like, what the strength she has inside,” Phillips said. “It’s unending. She’s the best thing I’ve ever done. Like, hands down, the best thing I’ve ever done.”
Phillips, who does dialysis treatment three times a week, further revealed that she currently feels “pretty good.”
“I was trying for a few months to, kind of, hang on with really wild numbers, [which] was making my doctors really nervous,” she explained. “I feel strong. I think that I’ve been through a lot in my life, and I don’t know if I would really change anything. I’m a pretty happy-go-lucky person, and I usually look at the bright side of things. It takes a lot to make me sort of lose my way or feel sad.”
Phillips’ blood type is B negative, so individuals with O positive, O negative and B negative can donate.
