India Women’s squad for South Africa tour — Anushka earns maiden call-up; Sneh, Amanjot out

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the women’s squad for India’s tour of South Africa next month, with Anushka Sharma getting maiden senior team call-up.

The 22-year-old all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh was one of the three incomings in the squad, alongside Uma Chetry and Kashvee Gautam. Meanwhile, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sneh Rana, G. Kamalini and Amanjot Kaur have been excluded from the squad, with Uma replacing Kamalini.

India, the ODI World champion, will travel to South Africa next month after an Australia tour, where it lost the one-off Test and ODI series but won the T20 series 2-1.

The South Africa tour will serve as a preparation ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which begins on June 12 in England. South Africa and India have been drawn in the same group at the T20 World Cup alongside Australia, Pakistan and two teams from the qualifiers.

Guard Ayo Dosunmu bypassed free agency to stay with the Minnesota Timberwolves on a five-year, $112 million contract, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.

The fifth season is a player option, according to reports.

Minnesota traded three-time All-Star Julius Randle to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, freeing the cash from Randle’s salary and opening a salary exception to cover Dosunmu’s bigger paycheck.
