June Movie Preview: ‘Toy Story 5,’ ‘Supergirl,’ Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day,’ & More

As summer shifts into gear, the movie calendar expands with more tentpole, big-budget spectacles to entice bigger draws to local theaters. This includes everything from millennial legacy sequels, ’80s nostalgia bait, a new creature feature from Steven Spielberg, a Jonas Brother, Steve-O, and Supergirl.

It’s a lighter month for streaming releases, though even Netflix isn’t immune to the power of throwbacks, with a new Jennifer Lopez-led rom-com kicking off the month. That said, there’s more to June than just the official star of blockbuster season. There are several independent and experimental features premiering, from the horror-romance “Leviticus” to comedian John Early’s feature-film debut, and the latest character drama from Olivia Wilde, stepping back into the director’s seat. From caped crusaders to complicated depictions of the complexities of marriage, June is delivering a wide range of entertainment.
