Kelsey Grammer in Sci-Fi Indie ‘Lars Shrike Walks the Night’ Trailer

“Shrike knows his name. He knows he has escaped. Everything else he must learn.” BritFlicks and Vortex have debuted an official trailer for this intriguing indie sci-fi mystery creation called Lars Shrike Walks the Night. Made by filmmaker Gary Walkow, this premiered back in 2024 at a film festival but hasn’t been seen from since. It’s finally getting a VOD release this summer for anyone to watch if you’re curious about it. A fictional character miraculously comes to life and escapes from a writer’s control. He is left to navigate the real world knowing only his name and that he has escaped, forcing him to learn everything else now from scratch. Starring Kelsey Grammer as the titular “Lars Shrike”, who believes he is trapped on prison planet even though he’s just wandering around Earth. Also featuring David Clennon, Christine Lin, and Kati Schwartz as the librarian seen in this trailer. The film is loosely connected to Gary Walkow’s previous 1987 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner The Trouble with Dick, which is also referenced in this footage (but as a book). Not sure if this will be any good but I’m always intrigued by indie sci-fi films that try something new.

Produced by Ryan J. Price, Gary Walkow, Donald Zuckerman. This initially premiered at the 2024 Lone Star Film Festival in Texas a few years ago. BritFlicks debuts Walkow’s Lars Shrike Walks the Night direct-to-VOD in the US to watch at home starting July 24th, 2026 this summer. Anyone want to watch?
