New US Trailer for ‘Revolver Lily’ Japanese Thriller with Haruka Ayase

“I’ve chosen to live.” Well Go USA has revealed an official US trailer for the film Revolver Lily, a Japanese action thriller inspired by a true story. In 1924, ex-spy Yuri, a former assassin, along with an orphan who has intel about missing imperial Japanese army funds, are pursued by soldiers as they try to survive. This was originally released in Japan back in 2023 – though the reviews have been pretty mixed for it. Now it’s getting a direct-to-VOD release in the US this January if anyone is curious to watch anyway. Or not… Once upon a time, Yuri was one of Japan’s deadliest assassins, but she’s retired now. In 1924 Yuri killed 57 people as a spy before going underground as the madam of a small brothel. There, she encounters an orphan whose family was murdered and holds the key to finding a large sum of money reported missing by the Imperial Japanese Army. But with an army of soldiers after them, they must now fight to survive. Starring Haruka Ayase as Yuri, along with Hiroki Hasegawa, Jinsei Hamura, and Kavka Shishido. Take a look below.

Once upon a time, Yuri (starring Haruka Ayase) was one of Japan’s deadliest assassins, but she’s retired now and spends her days running an underground brothel. A news report about a former colleague who has died under mysterious circumstances doesn’t quite sit right. The dead man’s son is now the target of a military manhunt, and Yuri will do whatever it takes to keep him safe. Revolver Lily, also known as リボルバー・リリー in Japanese, is directed by Japanese filmmaker Isao Yukisada, director of many, many films including Pink and Gray, Narratage, River’s Edge, Theater, The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese most recently. The screenplay is written by Tatsuo Kobayashi and Isao Yukisada; based on the novel “Riborubâ Rirî” written by Kyô Nagaura. Produced by Daisuke Takahashi. This originally opened in Japan first back in 2023 and premiered in Taiwan at the 2024 Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival.
