Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images The New York Mets placed shortstop Francisco Lindor on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left calf strain.
Fellow infielder Ronny Mauricio was called up from Triple-A Syracuse to replace Lindor, who sustained the injury Wednesday in the Mets’ first win in the past 12 games.
Also on Thursday afternoon, right-hander Christian Scott was recalled from Syracuse to start later that night against the visiting Minnesota Twins.
Mauricio is batting .293 with an OPS of .987 for the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse.
Lindor was heating up at the plate, but there has been nothing wrong with Mauricio’s swing of late. He belted three home runs on Tuesday night to give him six in 58 at-bats in the minors this season along with five stolen bases and 13 RBIs.
Mauricio, 25, had one hit in four at-bats in a brief stint with the Mets earlier this season.
Lindor, 32, had two hits in two at-bats on Wednesday before exiting with calf tightness. He’s batting .226 on the season. But Lindor was settling in over the past nine games with 11 hits in 33 at-bats to raise his average from .188.
Lindor’s injury occurred in Juan Soto’s first game since he went down with a calf injury against the San Francisco Giants on April 3. The Mets lost 12 consecutive games after a 4-4 start with Soto in the lineup and entered Thursday with an 8-16 record.
Scott was 0-2 with a 5.27 ERA in three starts at Triple-A Syracuse, where he collected 17 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since July 21, 2024. He went on the injured list with a sprained UCL in his right elbow two days later and underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2024.
Scott, 26, has yet to oppose the Twins in his career.

The time for NFL mock drafts has finally come to an end. Now the picks are for real.
The 2026 NFL Draft begins now, and soon enough the talking will end and the picks will start coming in. You can find out what time your team will pick here. We have every expectation that quarterback Fernando Mendoza will be the first player selected, and there is a lot to like about his game. Mendoza sat down with SB Nation earlier this week to talk about his journey to this moment, and what he will bring to an NFL roster.
After that, however, is anyone’s guess.
Will the New York Jets draft David Bailey at No. 2? When will Caleb Downs come off the board? Is Ty Simpson truly QB2 or will LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier make a surprising rise up the board following the discovery of a cyst on his spine, that likely contributed to his struggles last season? And what about some sleepers in the draft?
We’ll be tracking the picks live as they are turned in. For grades, we will have you covered here. Until the draft begins, you can check out our Top 100 players, or join the discussion at our new NFL Feed.
