It’s been over a year since Prime Video aired a new season of Cross, but the streamer is due to rectify this in less than one month. On February 11, Prime Video will debut the second season of the Aldis Hodge-led detective series adapted from James Patterson’s acclaimed series of Cross novels. Ahead of the Cross Season 2 premiere, fans are rushing to check out the show on Prime Video, which has led it back into the global top 10 for the streaming goliath. It will look to build on this streaming success once the second season premieres next month.
Cross is well on its way to becoming a flagship property for Prime Video, but the show has not yet been renewed for Season 3. The streamer will likely wait to see how Season 2 performs before it makes any decision on its future, but considering beloved stars like Matthew Lillard have joined the cast, it would be surprising if it wasn’t given a chance to continue. Prime Video has also recruited Cross star Aldis Hodge to star in Road House 2, the sequel to its 2024 remake of a Patrick Swayze classic. Hodge will star opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Dave Bautista in the film.
It’s good to see Aldis Hodge has found a franchise in Cross that he can call home. It seemed like he had found a long-running role in Hawkman after he lit the world on fire in 2022’s Black Adam, but once James Gunn took over DC, this role was put on ice, if not killed permanently. Gunn could bring back Hodge and other Black Adam stars in a future project, but it likely won’t be for years.
Prime Video’s Biggest Series Is Ending This Year
One of Prime Video’s biggest shows began in 2019 with The Boys, the spoofy superhero series starring Antony Starr and Karl Urban. The show has aired four successful, critically acclaimed seasons to date, with the fifth season confirmed to arrive on April 8. The Boys universe isn’t ending with Season 5, though. A new spin-off, Vought Rising, will be released sometime in the next few years. Starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, the prequel will explore the origins of Vought. Another season of Gen V could also be on the way, but Prime Video has yet to publicly decide its fate.
Check out the first season of Cross on Prime Video, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of Season 2.
