Favorite Cartoon from the 1990s By the State
There were some excellent cartoons of the 1990s, each teaching us valuable lessons in life. We had shows that would teach us more about being good friends, while others were more educational in nature. At the heart of them was fun and adventure. We watched babies explore with their imaginations and children help to save the planet.
Of course, some cartoons stand out more than others. It probably won’t be surprising to find out that across the states, two 1990s cartoons come out on top, with five states each favoring them: Batman: The Animated Series and Recess.
They make sense. With the former, it comes from the love for the comic books and the Adam West movie. Batman has always been an intriguing character. As for Recess, this was just a lot of fun, as we got that look into the world of school to see that others were experiencing the same as us.
Just behind the two with four states each are Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Powerpuff Girls, and The Magic School Bus. Again, with the lessons learned but also the highly entertaining storylines, this probably isn’t too much of a surprise.
Rugrats, Hey, Arnold, and Dragon Ball Z also made appearances on the best cartoons of the ’90s list. However, it is surprising that they’re no longer as popular as they were in the past.
There are some forgotten shows of the 1990s, though. When a live-action version of Captain Planet and the Planeteers was announced, many started to feel relieved that this wasn’t some weird fever dream. It was a real cartoon after all! On top of that, The Animaniacs is often overlooked, and there was an attempt at a comeback, but it just didn’t hit the same as it did in the ‘90s.
Saturday morning cartoons certainly had our hearts back then, but just how well can you remember them? If you love testing your knowledge, then we’re here with more quizzes on our Mental Floss quiz page.
