There’s a beautiful moment when Dwight is heartbroken ’cause Angela has left him, and they [Dwight and Jim] are sitting in the stairwell and Jim offers him some consolation… He’s kind of in tears, and he puts his arm out like he is going to grab Jim, then he looks and Jim is gone… I love that moment because it kind of sums up The Office for me. If Dwight had connected with Jim and Dwight had put his arm around Jim, and had looked into each other’s eyes and said, ‘I got you bro…” Then the whole show would have fallen apart.

It’s an incredibly poignant moment that is also a rarity in the relationship between Jim and Dwight. Jim shows a genuine concern for Dwight at that moment, which isn’t the usual status quo between the two characters.
