Peanut butter and jelly. Bacon and eggs. Cookies and milk. Zendaya and the Met Gala. Some things are just meant to be together.

Now, Zendaya might have only attended the Met Gala seven times in total, but she’s without a doubt one of the most-anticipated invitees at the event. After much, much waiting, she finally made her grand Met Gala return as one of the co-chairs for the Met Gala 2024 and gave us looks for days. She didn’t keep us waiting too long. She attended again in 2025. For the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and dress code, “Tailored for You,” she wore a sleek monochrome suit.

In 2021, when she announced that she wouldn’t be attending the event’s long-awaited return after a one-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many lamented the news. (She was busy filming the second season of Euphoria!) A year later, all our hopes were crushed when Zendaya announced she would once again skip the event and be absent from the Met Gala 2022 due to work commitments. “Your girl’s gotta work and make some movies,” she revealed just weeks ahead of the event. When 2023 rolled around, Zendaya provided no explanation for why she’d once again RSVP’d “no” to the Met Gala 2023, but we assumed she was busy with Dune 2. With a clearer schedule following not one but two killer press tours, Z returned to the Met Gala in 2024. She told us she would “be back eventually,” and she stuck to her word.
