Russell Crowe’s $25 Million War Thriller Scores Big as Streaming’s Newest Sleeper Hit

Fans everywhere have been buzzing about Russell Crowe’s performance in his new WWII movie, but just last year, he starred in another war thriller that’s scoring big on streaming. Crowe stars alongside Liam Hemsworth (The Witcher) and Luke Hemsworth (The Terminal List: Dark Wolf) in Land of Bad, the war movie following a Delta Force strike team who fight for survival while an Air Force drone pilot becomes their eyes on the sky. In America, Land of Bad is currently streaming on Netflix, but globally, the film has been in the VOD top 10 for over a week now.

Land of Bad wasn’t panned by critics upon its release, but reviewers also weren’t hanging any medals around the film’s neck either. It debuted with a 66% from critics on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, but as many of Crowe’s movies often are, it was a massive hit among audiences. Land of Bad earned a Verified Hot 93% on the Popcornmeter, making it one of the highest-rated movies of the last few years for Crowe. Land of Bad only played on limited screens during its theatrical run, though, which led to it grossing less than $10 million at the box office against a reported $25 million budget.

William Eubank wrote and directed Land of Bad with help from David Frigerio on the script. Eubank and Crowe will reunite soon for The Last Druid, an action film that’s currently in pre-production and eyeing a late 2026 release date. Eubank will also direct Passion of the Christ veteran Jim Caviezel and Shea Whigham in Archangel, which has already been dated for November 6, 2026. Luke Hemsworth served as an executive producer on Land of Bad.

Is Russell Crowe’s ‘Nuremberg’ on Streaming?

Russell Crowe’s Nuremberg is available to watch at home thanks to VOD platforms like Prime Video and Fandango at Home, but it has yet to be announced when it will begin streaming. It’s a product of Sony Pictures Classics, meaning when it is ready to begin its streaming run, it will likely debut on Netflix. Nuremberg, which also stars Rami Malek and Michael Shannon, grossed over $25 million at the box office, and it earned scores of 72% from critics and 96% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Crowe is viewed as an Oscar contender for his performance in the film.

Be sure to check out Land of Bad on Netflix in America and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
