Smiling Days Before Her Death: Influencer Ashlee Jenae Found Hanging in Tanzania Hotel Room After Joyful Engagement Trip, Family Doesn’t Buy The Suicide Narrative

Just days before she was found dead in a luxury hotel room, Ashlee Jenae appeared to be living out a real-life fairytale.

In a now-heartbreaking video montage, the Miami-based influencer is seen beaming with happiness during a lavish trip to Tanzania with her fiancé Joe McCann. The clips show the couple sharing affectionate embraces, celebrating their engagement, and even walking a white lion together, a surreal, once-in-a-lifetime experience that seemed to capture the joy of the moment. Friends say she had just turned 31 and was excited about the future, with everything in her life pointing toward a new beginning.

But within days, that joy turned into tragedy.

Ashlee was found dead inside their hotel room at a high-end resort in Tanzania around April 12–13. According to McCann, she died by hanging. The claim has stunned those closest to her, who say the woman seen laughing, smiling, and celebrating in the days leading up to her death bears no resemblance to someone who would take her own life.

Her loved ones have been quick to push back publicly. Among them, PR executive Savannah Britt has voiced disbelief, while family members have echoed the same message, insisting Ashlee was full of life, optimistic, and deeply happy following her recent engagement. The stark contrast between the vibrant woman in the videos and the circumstances of her death has only deepened the sense of unease.

Now, serious questions are being raised about what really happened in that hotel room.

The timeline of events remains unclear, and conflicting reports about where exactly Ashlee was found have added to the confusion. Scrutiny has also fallen on McCann’s account and his actions following the incident, with critics pointing to inconsistencies that they say demand closer examination.

Calls are mounting for Tanzanian authorities to launch a full, independent investigation into the death, as friends, family, and observers struggle to reconcile the images of a woman visibly at the peak of happiness with the official explanation of her sudden and tragic end.

What should have been remembered as a romantic getaway, marked by celebration and a new chapter, has instead become a deeply troubling mystery, one defined by a question that continues to linger, how did a woman who seemed so full of life end up dead just days later?
