If you’re a Discworld fan, then you know that the flat world travels through space held aloft by four elephants carried atop the great celestial turtle, A’Tuin. Any fan of the classic, humorous fantasy by the late and the great Terry Pratchett knows that there is magic all around us (of the color octarine), that Dwarf Bread is better used as a weapon than food ration, and that if you dove into the Ankh River for a swim, you’d be more likely to bounce off.

What you might not know, even as the most dedicated Discworld fan, is that there is an excellent Discworld video game that’s every bit as fun, silly, and magical as the fantasy book series.

The point-and-click adventure game was developed by Teeny Weeny Games and Perfect 10 Productions, and published for PC and PlayStation by Psygnosis in 1995 (and the Sega Saturn the following year). It features an original story created closely with Pratchett, starring the reluctant “wizzard,” Rincewind, and is worth a play for any fan, even today.

There’s A Discworld Video Game, And It’s Brilliant

The 1995 title was a point-and-click style video game created under close supervision by Pratchett himself. As a result, the title is packed with humor and fully voice acted by a cast of British actors and comedians.

In the Discworld adventure, a mysterious group brings a dragon from another dimension into Ankh-Morpork. Rincewind (voiced by Eric Idle from Monty Python) is sent to be the resident wizard on the scene, to investigate the problem. But instead of helping get rid of the dragon, Rincewind goes off-script and heads out to steal her gold, instead.

What ensues is a series of adventures that send the hapless wizard across the city of Ankh-Morpork and its surrounding areas—all presented with classic point-and-click adventure puzzles and a beautiful pixel art style. Along the way, players encounter many familiar characters from across Discworld, including the Archancellor and Librarian of Unseen University, the Luggage, the Patrician, as well as a few new faces, like the game-exclusive psychatrickerist (aka, a psychiatrist).

Two more games followed up the original—Discworld II: Missing Presumed…!? (1996) and Discworld Noir (1999)—but the original remains the best and most beloved of the bunch.

How Can You Play Discworld In 2026?

Unfortunately, Discworld isn’t available to play through official channels today. It’s not on Steam or GOG—though you can sign the official GOG petition asking the website to add it to its catalog.

You can find and play the game in your browser on certain websites online, which we won’t link to due to their murky legality. These websites are often unsafe, so proceed with caution. You can also get a hold of the PlayStation 1 version on eBay for roughly $85 (at the time of this writing).

The old age of the game makes it most likely to wind up on GOG eventually, so add it to your Dreamlist and keep an eye out for it there.

Bonus: There’s A Second Discworld Game (That’s Lesser Known)

The Discworld adventure game isn’t the only Discworld title still worth playing in 2026. Even before the point-and-click was released, a fan-made Multi-User Dungeon, aka a MUD, was created by fans in 1991. Three decades later, the game is still going strong and is available to play on the official Discworld MUD website.

The Discworld MUD is a text-based adventure game that places players into the Discworld universe. It’s fully multiplayer, which means you can interact with other fans in the game, and incorporates many of the characters from Pratchett’s beloved books.

At the time of this writing, the MUD is still updating on a monthly basis. Players can join a guild, run a shop, own a house, become a writer for the local newspaper, and explore over a million rooms across many different areas.

Discworld and the Diswcorld MUD are just another way to explore the Discworld if you’ve already read (and reread) all the books in the series. Both games are must-plays for fans of the series, even 30 years after their release.
