The Wakandans and Fantastic Four Unite in Final ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Theatrical Trailer

With 2026 now fully underway, Disney has one more look at Avengers: Doomsday to share before the countdown begins to release. The last of four teasers rolled out weekly ahead of screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash has been released online following its debut in theaters, and it provides another interesting wrinkle to Anthony and Joe Russo‘s latest MCU blockbuster. Following a somber yet thrilling highlight of the X-Men, two more superhero factions are joining forces — the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four. Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) enters the picture and brings a little levity to what is otherwise a serious preparation for the coming multiversal battle.

The fourth trailer opens on Shuri (Letitia Wright) taking up the mantle of Black Panther to continue the fight against Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom. Still lamenting the tragic losses of her brother T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, she says that, “a king has his duties to prepare our people for the afterlife. I have mine.” She’s far from alone in fighting for the future of the nation, joined by Namor (Tenoch Huerta) in an alliance with Talokan that appears to be going strong. The footage then switched to M’Baku (Winston Duke), who introduces himself to The Thing as the King of Wakanda, before the hero responds as “Ben, Yancy Street, between Broome and Grand.” Exactly how or where the two parties came to meet remains to be answered, but it links up the timeline of The Fantastic Four: First Steps with that of the main MCU in a more official fashion after Doom poked in the crib of Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm’s (Vanessa Kirby) baby Franklin

Details of Doomsday have been kept well under wraps, outside of it being a multiversal epic bringing together recent Marvel teams like The Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts/New Avengers, alongside a veteran lineup beyond this cinematic universe in the old X-Men. The teasers have given viewers a better idea of what to expect, though. Despite leaving many of the franchise’s biggest stars behind after Avengers: Endgame, it’s clear that the original Avengers still have a major role to play, with the positioning of the former Captain America as a key character alongside Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor. There is still much left unknown, though, and so far, the run-up to the blockbuster has had no shortage of surprises.

What Else Does the MCU Have Planned Beyond ‘Doomsday’?

Stephen McFeely returned to pen both Doomsday and its follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, albeit without his usual MCU writing partner Christopher Markus. McFeely, of course, last worked with the Russo Brothers on Endgame and Infinity War and had a major hand in each of the Russos’ previous Avengers movies. Ahead of the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Joseph Quinn described his work as “definitely ambitious” in an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, remarking that “It just must be so hard writing for that many characters and a scale of that size, but it’s going for it.” With so many different teams working together, alongside other returning favorites like Letitia Wright, Tenoch Huerta, Paul Rudd, Benedict Cumberbatch, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, and more, it’s bound to be fertile ground for more unique team-ups with characters who haven’t been seen on the big screen in some time.

Though it’s getting the most attention, Doomsday isn’t the next cinematic MCU project on the horizon. That honor, instead, belongs to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Directed by Shang-Chi helmer Destin Daniel Cretton, the return of Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker came together rather quickly once the rubber met the road, landing it a July 31 release date. It may also have a more direct connection to the events of Secret Wars, considering it was once sandwiched between the 2027 film and Doomsday before delays, and that Sadie Sink‘s mystery character is rumored to appear in the Phase 6 capper. Details are being kept under wraps for Spidey’s next outing too, but it has an exciting cast aboard as well, with Mark Ruffalo‘s Hulk confirmed to return via set photos, alongside Holland’s regular co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, Michael Mando as Scorpion, Jon Bernthal in his first big-screen appearance as The Punisher, and MCU newcomers Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026. Stay tuned here at Collider for more on the MCU team-up film as it draws closer.
