“He’s running out of places to hide…” “It’s about being on the winning team.” Goldwyn Films has revealed an official trailer for another trashy action thriller movie called Oscar Shaw, being dumped on VOD for release in early January. Yet another of these poorly shot, extremely underlit, entirely generic action movies they still keep making more of. A retired detective seeks revenge for his best friend’s death, taking justice into his own hands after failing to achieve it during his police career. Starring Michael Jai White as Oscar Shaw, with Tyrese Gibson & Isaiah Washington, plus Rich Paul & Cecile Cubiló. A relentless cop haunted by the tragic loss of his closest friend sets out on a perilous quest for vengeance, fighting to restore justice to the streets he once swore to protect. Michael Jai White seems to be making way too many of these boring action movies recently (also see Trouble Man, Hostile Takeover). And here’s another one to ignore…

Oscar Shaw is co-directed by filmmakers R. Ellis Frazier (director of Misfire, Rumble, Eight Days Carlo, Larceny, Legacy, Hustle Down, Repeater, As Good as Dead, Day Labor) & Justin Nesbitt (producer on many other movies / director of Zoom.Mov). The screenplay is written by Don Roff (R.L. Stine’s Story Club podcast, Saint Clare). It’s produced by Vince Jolivette, Richie Hil, Jiarui Guo, Ojan Missaghi, David Wachs. Samuel Goldwyn Films will release Frazier & Nesbitt’s Oscar Shaw film in select US theaters + on VOD starting on January 9th, 2026 coming up soon.
