Marvel has apparently had second thoughts about one of its more surprising renewals. “Wonder Man,” Marvel Television’s Hollywood-set superhero dramedy starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley, won’t be getting a second season after all, despite Disney+ officially renewing the series just four months ago.

Variety reports that Marvel has canceled “Wonder Man” after one season. The reversal is a curious one: Season 2 was announced in March, roughly two months after the series debuted, but Variety says a writers’ room was never actually opened, and the show’s writers have now been released to pursue other projects.
