A 26-year-old man who allegedly leaked the unreleased animated film “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender” has been arrested and faces a charge that could lead to serious jail time.

The Straits Times reports that in a Singapore police statement issued today, it is indicated that the man allegedly downloaded the unreleased animated film and leaked parts of it on social media platforms.

The man was then identified and arrested within a day of the report, with various electronic devices belonging to him seized, and a copy of the film recovered from his devices.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man gained unauthorised remote access to the server before downloading the film. As a result, he’s currently being investigated for unauthorised access to computer material.

That charge carries a maximum jail term of seven years, a fine not exceeding $50,000, or both.

An original posting from a Singapore account on X claimed that Nickelodeon, which animated the film, ‘accidentally emailed the man the entire movie and shared an extract from it.

Within a day, videos from unrelated accounts, but also based in Singapore, surfaced on places like 4Chan.

The film itself is due out later this year.
