 इस चुनाव में दो सीटों के लिए तीन उम्मीदवार मैदान में थे, जिनमें भाजपा समर्थित निर्दलीय उम्मीदवार परिमल नाथवानी, झारखंड मुक्ति मोर्चा (JMM) के बैद्यनाथ राम और कांग्रेस के प्रणव झा शामिल थे। झारखंड विधानसभा के 81 विधायकों ने मतदान में हिस्सा लिया। प्रमुख मतदाताओं में मुख्यमंत्री हेमंत सोरेन, विपक्ष के नेता बाबूलाल मरा और अन्य वरिष्ठ विधायक शामिल रहे। मतदान सुबह 9 बजे से शाम 4 बजे तक चला, जबकि मतगणना शाम 5 बजे शुरू हुई। तीन उम्मीदवारों के मैदान में होने से मुकाबला काफी रोचक हो गया था।

 भाजपा सांसद निशिकांत ने दावा किया कि परिमल नाथवानी को 28 वोट मिले, जबकि कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार प्रणव झा को केवल 20 वोट प्राप्त हुए।  उन्होंने इस परिणाम को महागठबंधन (इंडिया गठबंधन) की बड़ी हार बताया।  बैद्यनाथ राम  भी राज्यसभा के लिए निर्वाचित हो गए। उन्हें 30 वोट मिले। हालांकि एक वोट अमान्य हो गया था।

जीत के बाद परिमल नाथवानी ने सभी विधायकों और एनडीए नेतृत्व का आभार व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्यसभा सदस्य के रूप में चौथी बार सेवा करने का अवसर मिलना उनके लिए गर्व और भावुकता का विषय है। उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी, केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह और भाजपा नेतृत्व का समर्थन के लिए धन्यवाद दिया।  नाथवानी ने कहा कि यह झारखंड से उनका तीसरा कार्यकाल होगा और वे राज्य के विकास तथा जनता की आकांक्षाओं को पूरा करने के लिए पूरी प्रतिबद्धता के साथ काम करते रहेंगे। Edited by : Sudhir Sharma
