Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images Garrett Mitchell has often been on the injured list since his major league debut in August 2022, but he has been healthy this season as he and the Milwaukee Brewers go for a three-game sweep of the host Miami Marlins on Sunday. “I’m just happy with the way he’s staying healthy,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said of Mitchell, who drew three walks, stole one base and scored one run on Saturday in Milwaukee’s season-high fourth straight win. “He’s responding after bad results. “Garrett gives you tough at-bats. He sees a lot of pitches.” Mitchell, a 27-year-old Californian with elite tools, was Milwaukee’s first-round pick (No. 20 overall) in 2020. In 18 games this year, he has an .877 OPS, which is on pace to exceed his career high of .832 from 2022. He’s getting regular playing time in part because center fielder Jackson Chourio and DH/outfielder Christian Yelich are on the injured list. As for Sunday’s pitching matchup, it will be a battle of two tall right-handers with triple-digit fastballs: Miami’s Eury Perez (1-1, 5.40 ERA) against Jacob Misiorowski (1-1, 3.32). Perez, listed at 6-foot-8 and 220 pounds, is 0-1 with a 3.72 ERA in two career starts against the Brewers. The Marlins are 3-1 this season when starting Perez, although he has pitched past the fifth inning just once. Perez has elite extension and easy velocity, topping out between 98 and 101 mph. He also has a deadly slider, and his confidence in his other secondary pitches appears to be growing. Misiorowski, listed at 6-foot-7 and 201 pounds, has never faced Miami. The Brewers are 2-2 this season when pitching Misiorowski, who has lasted at least five innings in all four of his starts. Misiorowski, who reaches 100 mph with his fastball, was Milwaukee’s second-round pick in 2022. He made his major league debut last year, going 5-3 with a 4.36 ERA in 15 games, including 14 starts, and being selected for the All-Star Game. He struck out 87 in 66 innings, showing off some of the most electrifying stuff in MLB. This season, he has 33 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. On Sunday, he will be facing a Marlins squad that has lost seven of their past eight, including a season-high four in a row. In Saturday’s 5-2 loss to Milwaukee, the Marlins had eight hits — all singles — and five came after the seventh inning. “I wish I had the magic pill to determine which innings we’re going to do it,” Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said. “I think it’s just the ebb and flow of games. “You will see times when we cash in with runners in scoring position. And you will see games when we get opportunities, and we just don’t come through.” –Field Level Media #Deadspin #Garrett #Mitchell #providing #spark #Brewers #eye #sweep #Marlins

Meta Glasses Are Comfortable, Functional, and Make My Spouse Recoil in Fear<div><p><span class="lead-in-text-callout">Every time I’ve</span> written about <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/the-ray-ban-meta-wayfarers-are-the-best-face-computer/" class="text link">Meta’s AI-enabled glasses</a>, I invariably get asked these questions: Why do you even want these? Why do you want <a href="https://www.wired.com/gallery/best-smart-glasses/" class="text link">smart glasses</a> that can play music or <a href="https://www.wired.com/review/oakley-meta-vanguard-smart-glasses/" class="text link">misidentify native flora</a> in a weirdly cheery voice? I am a lifelong Ray-Ban Wayfarer wearer, and I’m also WIRED’s resident Meta wearer. I grab a pair of Meta glasses whenever I leave the house because I like being able to use one device instead of two or three on a walk. With Meta glasses, I can wear sunglasses <em>and</em> <a href="https://www.wired.com/gallery/best-workout-headphones/" class="text link">workout headphones</a> in one!</p><p class="paywall">Meta sold <a data-offer-url="https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/11/ray-ban-maker-essilorluxottica-triples-sales-of-meta-ai-glasses.html" class="external-link text link" data-event-click="{"element":"ExternalLink","outgoingURL":"https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/11/ray-ban-maker-essilorluxottica-triples-sales-of-meta-ai-glasses.html"}" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2026/02/11/ray-ban-maker-essilorluxottica-triples-sales-of-meta-ai-glasses.html" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">more than 7 million pairs in 2025</a>. Take a look at any major outdoor or sporting event, and you’ll see more than a few people wearing these to record snippets for Instagram or TikTok. Meta’s <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/meta-smart-glasses-ray-ban-display-ray-ban-gen-2-oakley-vanguard/" class="text link">partnership with EssilorLuxottica</a> has made smart glasses accessible, stylish, and useful and is undoubtedly <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/google-smart-glasses-software-style/" class="text link">the reason why Google</a>, <a data-offer-url="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2026-04-12/apple-ai-smart-glasses-features-styles-colors-cameras-giannandrea-leaving-mnvtz4yg" class="external-link text link" data-event-click="{"element":"ExternalLink","outgoingURL":"https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2026-04-12/apple-ai-smart-glasses-features-styles-colors-cameras-giannandrea-leaving-mnvtz4yg"}" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2026-04-12/apple-ai-smart-glasses-features-styles-colors-cameras-giannandrea-leaving-mnvtz4yg" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">and now Apple</a>, are trying to horn in on the market. After the <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/book-excerpt-mutiny-noam-scheiber-apple-vision-pro/" class="text link">notable flop</a> that is the <a href="https://www.wired.com/review/apple-vision-pro/" class="text link">Apple Vision Pro</a>, Apple is recalibrating its face-wearable strategy, moving away from augmented reality (AR) toward simpler, display-less, and hopefully good-looking glasses.</p><p class="paywall">That’s not to say that you shouldn’t be careful how you use these glasses. Meta doesn’t have the <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/metas-pay-for-privacy-model-is-illegal-says-eu/" class="text link">greatest track record</a> on privacy, and the company has continued to push forward with policies that are questionable at best. Even if you’re <em>not</em> concerned that <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/meta-ray-ban-oakley-smart-glasses-no-face-recognition-civil-society/" class="text link">face recognition</a> will allow Meta to target immigrants or enable stalkers to find their victims, at the very least, people really do not like the idea that you could start recording them at any moment.</p><p class="paywall">Probably the biggest hurdle to wearing Meta glasses is that even doing so seems like a gross violation of the social contract. After all, these are Mark Zuckerberg’s “<a href="https://www.wired.com/story/the-rise-of-the-ray-ban-meta-creep/" class="text link">pervert glasses</a>.” When I pop these on my head, I’ve had friends (and my spouse) recoil and say, “I have apps to warn me away from people like you.” The best part, though, is that Oakley and Ray-Ban already make really great sunglasses. Even if the battery runs out or you don’t use Meta AI at all, these are stellar at shading your eyes from the sun.</p><p class="paywall">Anyway, if you decide to try them, here’s what you should get. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) admitted that no contract was ever sent to Blessing Muzarabani to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) but insisted that a firm verbal agreement was reached with the Zimbabwe pacer and he had breached the trust while joining the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The PCB recently imposed a two-year ban on Muzarabani from playing in the PSL claiming he breached a contract with Islamabad United and joined IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders.

The fast bowler’s agent, Rob Humphries tore into the PCB on Sunday in a social media post for the ban and claimed his client neither took part in the PSL players auction nor signed any contract with Islamabad United.

Humphries said the ban was excessive and unjustified.

But sources in the PCB while conceding no contract was signed with Rabbani claimed that a clear verbal agreement between both the parties was reached.

The source said this was also clear in the PCB announcement about the ban that despite a clear offer and an unequivocal acceptance of essential terms, the player chose to disregard these obligations in favour of a conflicting arrangement.

The PCB source said once essential terms — including remuneration and structure — are agreed upon through written correspondence, a binding obligation is formed.

But Humphries said after talks began with Islamabad United it had made it clear that unless it had a contract they couldn’t apply for an NOC from the Zimbabwe Cricket.

“We’ve remained quiet publicly over the last six weeks because we did not wish to create or cause anymore animosity for the Pakistan Super League/Pakistan Cricket Board than they had already created for themselves,” Humphries’ statement said.

“[On] 13 February, Blessing [was] approached by Islamabad United about a playing opportunity for the 2026 PSL. The deal [was] agreed subject to obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Zimbabwe Cricket.

“An NOC cannot be obtained without a contract from the PSL. Islamabad United/PSL announced the signing to the world via social media,” it said.

Humphries further urged the PCB to gracefully withdraw the ban and accept this situation risen out of an administrative error at its end.

Muzarabani was taken by Islamabad as a replacement for West Indian pacer Shamar Joseph for USD 40,000.
