Jonas Valanciunas amassed 23 points and 17 rebounds, both season highs, and Julian Strawther added 22 points as the host Denver Nuggets beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 127-107 in a matchup of benches on Friday night.
Denver (53-28) clinched at least the fourth seed in the Western Conference with its 11th straight win. The Nuggets can still capture the No. 3 seed with a win Sunday in San Antonio or a Los Angeles Lakers’ loss.
Denver rested its entire starting five and Spencer Jones and Peyton Watson, both of whom have been sidelined with hamstring strains.
Oklahoma City (64-17) has secured the top overall seed.
The only starter dressed for either team was Thunder guard Luguentz Dort, who was required to play at least 20 minutes in each of the final two games to qualify for postseason awards, according to coach Mark Daigneault.
Dort played 20:27 and scored five points.
Denver’s David Roddy scored 16 of his season-high 21 points in the fourth quarter. Jalen Pickett and Tim Hardaway Jr. had 13 points each and Bruce Brown added 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Nuggets.
Branden Carlson led Oklahoma City with 23 points. Jared McCain and Kenrich Williams added 15 apiece, Nikola Topic and Brooks Barnhizer contributed 14 points each and Aaron Wiggins finished with 13 points.
The lack of star power showed in the first half when both teams struggled to make shots. Hardaway, who entered the night ninth in made 3-pointers with 221, missed all six of his attempts in the first half before making his only three attempts from deep in the second half.
Denver led 59-51 at the half and pushed the lead back to nine on Brown’s 3-pointer near the midpoint of the third quarter, but the Thunder got within 80-79 on two free throws by Barnhizer late in the third.
Denver took a 90-85 advantage into the fourth and Roddy sparked a surge, driving for a dunk and then a layup and hitting a step-back 3-pointer to give the Nuggets a 100-85 lead.
The hosts led by as much as 23 down the stretch.
The Nuggets knocked down 21-of-43 shots (48.8%) from behind the arc and 49 of 93 (50.5%) from the field.

Rookie Blake Hinson scored a career-high 30 points and two Utah reserves logged triple-doubles, helping the Jazz snap a 10-game losing streak with a 147-101 demolition of the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday in Salt Lake City.
Rookie Bez Mbeng logged 27 points, 11 assists, 11 rebounds and three steals for his first triple-double. John Konchar registered a triple-double for a second straight game — the second and third of his career — finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and five steals.
Kennedy Chandler added 26 points and 10 assists to help the Jazz (22-59) get in the win column for only the second time in 16 games. Oscar Tshiebwe had 16 points and a career-high 22 rebounds, and Ace Bailey chipped in 23 points and 10 boards.
Dariq Whitehead led Memphis with a career-best 21 points. Rookie Toby Okani had a career-high 20 points and Adama Bel added 18 for the Grizzlies, who used just six players while losing their seventh straight game. Memphis (25-56) has two wins in its past 22 contests.
Memphis’ Jahmai Mashack had 13 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists and 10 turnovers. Rayan Rupert added 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Lucas Williamson chipped in 13 points and 13 boards.
Utah outscored Memphis 50-26 in the paint in the first half while shooting 59% from the field. That production around the rim, coupled with active hands on defense, helped the Jazz pull away to a 74-52 lead at the break.
Konchar had a pair of blocks and steals to fuel a 21-5 second quarter run that put the Jazz up 55-39 midway through the quarter. Utah scored on four straight possessions at the end of the run, highlighted by back-to-back baskets from Cody Williams.
Memphis cut the deficit to 61-46 on a putback layup from Williamson before Utah ripped off an 11-2 run. Hinson sandwiched the run with a 3-pointer and a reverse layup. His last basket put the Jazz up 72-48 with 1:31 left before halftime.
Utah increased its lead to 44 points early in the fourth quarter. The Jazz went on a 15-0 run spanning the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth to go up 118-74. Utah had seven unanswered baskets during the run, capped by Konchar’s layup off Bailey’s steal.
