At least 10 people have been killed and more than two dozen injured after an overloaded tourist bus carrying passengers on its roof overturned in southern Pakistan in a horrific crash caught on video.
The deadly accident unfolded on Tuesday in the Chhato Chand area of Sindh province as the bus transported a large group of travelers from Karachi to the popular Keenjhar Lake recreation area.
According to officials and rescue sources, the driver allegedly lost control of the speeding vehicle before it overturned violently on the roadway.
Shocking footage and eyewitness accounts from the scene showed the bus was dangerously overcrowded, with dozens of passengers packed not only inside the vehicle but also sitting on top of the roof at the time of the crash.
When the bus flipped over, several passengers riding above were reportedly thrown directly onto the pavement, dramatically increasing the death toll and severity of injuries.
Disturbing images from the aftermath showed twisted wreckage scattered across the roadside as bloodied survivors and panicked bystanders rushed to help victims trapped beneath debris.
Emergency responders and local residents raced to the scene to pull injured passengers from the wreckage before transporting them to Thatta Civil Hospital for urgent treatment.
Medical officials said several victims, including women and children, remain in critical condition. Some of the seriously injured were later transferred to hospitals in Karachi due to limited medical resources in the local area.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the crash, with early reports pointing toward speeding and reckless driving as major contributing factors.
The tragedy has also reignited outrage over the widespread and highly dangerous practice of transporting passengers on bus rooftops across parts of Pakistan despite repeated safety warnings.
Critics blasted the lack of road safety enforcement in Sindh province, where overloaded buses, aging vehicles, and poor infrastructure continue contributing to frequent deadly crashes.
Road accidents remain a major problem throughout Pakistan, with officials routinely citing deteriorating road conditions, inadequate vehicle maintenance, weak enforcement of traffic laws, and chronic overcrowding as ongoing risks.
For many viewers online, however, the most horrifying part of the viral footage was the realization that so many victims were exposed on the roof of the bus with virtually no protection when the vehicle overturned.
What began as a recreational day trip ended in catastrophe within seconds.
