Dramatic footage has captured the astonishing moment a United Airlines passenger jet struck a bakery delivery truck while coming in for a landing near Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.

The incident involved a Boeing 767-400 operated by United Airlines, according to local reports.

Video circulating online shows the massive aircraft descending low over a roadway before apparently colliding with the top portion of a truck belonging to H&S Bakery as it traveled near the airport.

The footage quickly spread across social media, where stunned viewers struggled to comprehend how a commercial airliner and a bakery truck could end up intersecting in the same space.

According to Chuck Paterakis, senior vice president of transportation and logistics at H&S Bakery, the driver had been traveling from Baltimore to New Jersey at the time of the collision.

The driver reportedly suffered only minor injuries.

Fox Baltimore reported that emergency responders treated the driver following the incident, though no serious injuries were immediately disclosed.

United Airlines later confirmed the aircraft had been involved in the collision and said an investigation was underway.

“Our maintenance team is evaluating damage to the aircraft, and we will investigate how this occurred,” a United spokesperson said in a statement.

It remains unclear exactly where the impact occurred relative to the airport perimeter or what circumstances caused the aircraft to strike the vehicle during its landing approach.
