A savage knife-wielding maniac allegedly tried to decapitate a man in the middle of a quiet Belfast street Monday night, in a blood-curdling assault captured on sickening video that’s rocketing across social media.
The frenzied attack erupted on Kinnaird Avenue in north Belfast around 10:30 p.m. on June 8, as the suspect climbed on top of his victim and repeatedly sawed at his head and throat with what cops later described as a Stanley-style knife.
Bystanders could be heard screaming in terror in the graphic footage, with one local hero grabbing a hurley stick to help drag the bloodthirsty attacker off the helpless man lying defenseless on the pavement.
Cops from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) raced to the scene and slapped the cuffs on a suspect right there. The victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening neck and head injuries.“A man has been arrested in relation to the incident and is in police custody while a second man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries,” a PSNI spokesperson confirmed.
Officers remained on scene late into the night with the area cordoned off as forensic teams worked under floodlights. Detectives are begging witnesses and anyone with dashcam or doorbell video to come forward.
The savage stabbing comes as knife crime continues to plague parts of the UK and Ireland, leaving residents terrified to step outside after dark.
