“Our annual Christmas violin recital took place in a big Catholic cathedral and afterwards, my mom tried to get me and my sisters to stand together for a photo. But the youngest dramatically collapsed to the floor out of protest while I stood in the back with my arms crossed, done with both the recital and my family. The lighting and our expressions made the whole thing look less “holiday recital” and more like a horror movie.”
