The In-Office Treatment This NYC-Based Derm Thinks Is 'Totally Worth the Money'

The In-Office Treatment This NYC-Based Derm Thinks Is 'Totally Worth the Money'

Welcome to “Face It,” in which practitioners, dermatologists, facialists and other beauty experts answer our rapid-fire questions (quicker than you can say “just a few more units, please?”), revealing their hottest takes, most controversial opinions and the hard truths they wish their clients could come to terms with.

Board certified dermatologist Dr. Elyse Love isn’t one to mince words or go along with industry trends. She thinks most at-home skin-care devices are a scam, isn’t a fan of how celebrities “all seem to be morphing into the same face” and doesn’t underestimate the importance of a good (drugstore!) facial cleanser.

At her GlamDerm office in New York City, she focuses on results-driven treatments that cater to all skin tones (she’s a big fan of the SkinPen microneedling device, for example). But Dr. Love also thinks there’s still a ways to go when it comes to developing better in-office treatments. “We need more devices that are safe in all skin types, but give really powerful results,” she told Fashionista during a recent interview.

In the video below, Dr. Love gets honest about even more, including her most controversial beauty hot take, the skin-care trend she thinks is a scam, the cheapest part of her own beauty routine and more.
