Chaotic video footage has captured the moment an allegedly intoxicated airline passenger was pinned to the floor of a long-haul international flight after reportedly biting a flight attendant and another passenger during an onboard disturbance that forced the aircraft to divert to Tahiti.
The incident unfolded aboard a Qantas Airways flight traveling from Melbourne to Dallas — an exhausting route lasting nearly 18 hours.
According to reports surrounding the incident, the passenger allegedly became disruptive after attempting to smoke during the flight before tensions escalated dramatically as crew members intervened.
The viral video circulating online shows the man, wearing a green Virginia t-shirt, aggressively arguing with airline staff while several passengers and crew members struggle to restrain him on the cabin floor.
At various moments in the footage, the man can reportedly be heard shouting profanity and resisting attempts to calm him down as nearby travelers watch the frightening scene unfold inside the packed aircraft.
Authorities say the situation escalated further when the passenger allegedly bit both a flight attendant and another passenger during the struggle.
The disturbance became serious enough that the flight was ultimately diverted to Tahiti, where local authorities boarded the aircraft and escorted the man off the plane upon landing.
Qantas later confirmed the passenger had been issued a lifetime no-fly ban following the incident.
The shocking footage has reignited growing concern over passenger behavior aboard long-haul international flights, where alcohol, fatigue, confinement, and stress can sometimes combine to create volatile situations thousands of feet in the air.
