I work in an affordable little place that serves pre-packaged sandwiches, soups, and salads. We have a few tables where customers can sit and eat, but most people just grab and go during the lunch rush.
One seated customer has opened his salad and walks up to me with a frown:
Customer: “Excuse me, I ordered this salad, and my carrots are shredded.”
Me: “Yes, sir, that’s how the carrots are served on this dish.”
Customer: “I would like my carrots diced.”
Me: “The salads come pre-packaged, so we can’t really change how specific ingredients are prepared.”
Customer: “But I like my carrots diced. I’m allergic to shredded carrots.”
Me: “Are… you just used to saying you’re allergic to things you don’t like?”
As annoyed as I was with him, it was funny to see him spend the next twenty minutes moving individual shreds of carrot aside from the rest of his salad.
