Disgraced Ex- Louisiana Mayor Busted For Banging Her Teen Son’s Pal At Boozy Pool Bash Dodges Decades Behind Bars With Slap-On-Wrist 90-Day Sentence

DERIDDER, La. — A former Louisiana mayor who was caught having sex with her 16-year-old son’s buddy at a wild alcohol-fueled pool party at her own home has been sentenced to just 90 days in jail, a far cry from the 17 years prosecutors wanted.

Misty Roberts, 44, the ex-mayor of tiny DeRidder, was convicted in March on felony charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile after a jury heard bombshell testimony that her own son walked in on the lewd act.

The shocking scandal unfolded at Roberts’ house in July 2024 during what was supposed to be a birthday bash for her son. Witnesses said the then-42-year-old politician, wearing a revealing bikini, flirted heavily with the underage boy before luring him inside for sex.

Her son allegedly witnessed the steamy encounter and initially told investigators what he saw, though he later changed his story. Roberts’ ex-husband testified she straight-up admitted the fling to him. A friend of the victim claimed Roberts’ own daughter saw her mom making out with the teen by the pool earlier that night.

The victim’s furious mother unloaded on Roberts in court, calling her a “predator with hair extensions, high heels, Botox” who knew exactly what she was doing.”You thought so much of yourself in that bikini that night, you knew exactly what you were doing with his mind. He was 16,” the mom fumed. She added that the betrayal hit even harder when Roberts tried shifting blame onto the boy.

When the boy’s mother later asked if pregnancy was a concern, Roberts reportedly brushed it off, saying things “didn’t reach that point in those few minutes to have that concern.”

Roberts resigned as mayor just days before her arrest. She was found guilty after a trial where her own kids testified against her.

Judge D. Kent Savoie handed down the lenient sentence Tuesday, citing impacts on Roberts’ family despite prosecutors pushing hard for serious time. She must also pay a $5,000 fine, register as a Tier 1 sex offender, undergo drug screenings, and complete psychological therapy. Two five-year prison terms were suspended, meaning she’ll serve probation after her short stint behind bars.

“What an embarrassment I’ve been to this city,” Roberts reportedly told the court.

The light punishment has sparked outrage online, with many pointing out the glaring double standard: If roles were reversed, a male in power would likely be rotting in prison for years.

Roberts walked free after her March conviction on a bond arrangement, but will now report to serve her 90 days.
