I have a dog owner who is always trying to cut some kind of corner to be cheap.
Owner: “[Dog’s Name] doesn’t need heartworm prevention. She never goes outside!”
Me: “Oh? So how did your pet get here today?”
Pause.
Owner: “That’s different! Trips to the vet don’t count.”
Me: “Your dog is going to explore the world by sniffing and licking everything. They’re going to lick up something not fun; it’s just a matter of time. You do not want to be skipping the heartworm prevention.”
Owner: “What if I only get it if she gets… uh… heartworm?”
Me: “You know what prevention means, right?”
