SANTA ANA, Calif. — A hot-tempered customer turned a routine Chipotle run into a messy nightmare, violently chucking her burrito bowl straight into an employee’s face, sending food flying everywhere before bolting from the scene.
Shocking surveillance video released by Santa Ana police shows the unidentified woman getting into a heated argument with a worker behind the counter at the fast-casual joint on the 1300 block of West 17th Street on May 12. After a few seconds of back-and-forth, she grabs her order and hurls it like a weapon, striking the employee and causing the contents to splatter across the counter and uniform.
The bowl “exploded” on impact, according to one viral social media alert, leaving a chaotic scene of rice, beans, and toppings scattered in the restaurant near Santa Ana College.
The suspect, described as a Hispanic female between 18 and 25 years old with long dark hair, was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black pants with white polka dots. She casually walked away after the assault and fled through the shopping center.
Police are now asking the public for help identifying the food-flinging fugitive. Anyone with information is urged to contact Santa Ana Police Investigative Specialist C. Rodriguez at (714) 245-8403.
