A customer comes in with a deposit slip.

Me: *Politely.* “Sir, this deposit slip is for a different bank.”

Customer: “Deposit it anyway!”

I look them up to see if they’re account holders at my bank, and they are not.

Me: “Sir, this is [My Bank], and not [Your Bank].”

Customer: “So? A bank is a bank! Put the money in my d*** account!”

Me: “Sir, you will need to go to your bank for that. I have no access to your account at this bank.”

Customer: *Getting irate.* “So, you’re telling me that you’re not connected to all the other banks?!”

Me: “No, sir, just [My Bank]. The banks aren’t all connected to each other.”

Customer: “They’re not?”

Me: “No, otherwise there would just be… one bank.:”

Customer: “Well… that’s just dumb!”
