Gaming phones have always been up in the super premium price segment, appealing only to the most serious of gamers and eSports players. This limits their ability to appeal to the masses and one of the most serious mobile gaming markets, i.e., India. Among all the brands, OPPO has just come out with the all-new K13 Turbo, which is India’s first phone to feature an in-built fan.
Typically, I’d have attributed the fan to just another gimmick, but with India’s hot and humid climate reaching up to 45 degrees, there is a solid case to be made for the K13 Turbo. With this in mind, I switched over to the K13 Turbo for a whole week as my daily driver, and took it on a trip to attend a launch event in Delhi. This review will cover my experience of using the device, highlight its pros and cons, and help you make a wise buying decision.

Summary
At INR 27,999, the OPPO K13 Turbo gets a lot of things right, giving you spectacular performance, an all-new cooling system that actually works, a pretty design, and a super sharp and colorful display. However, some might miss the lack of an UltraWide or telephoto lens option.
Design & Hardware
Most gaming phones have this very gamery aesthetic that sits right in your face, and can be very polarizing. Thankfully, OPPO has pretty much avoided that and made a phone that isn’t gamery at all. If anything, it’s classy. I received the black variant of the device, and sure, the other colors have more flair, but I don’t have any problems with it.
The design is simple, elegant, and the inclusion of the fan in the camera module is something I love, since nobody can tell it apart from a distance. The brushed back panel, the flat sides, and the edge-to-edge display all add up to make for a super premium experience.
At 8.3 mm and weighing around 207 g, OPPO has nailed the ergonomics of the K13 Turbo. The phone is easy to carry around, doesn’t tip over, and the rounded corners don’t dig into the palms, making it a super comfortable experience.

Let’s talk about the most hyped feature of the K13 Turbo. The fan is neatly tucked beneath the camera module, with a vent on the right-hand side. Essentially, it takes in air from the camera module, passes it through the processor, and vents the hot air away. The fan can spin up to 18,000 RPM, and I could feel hot air coming from the vents during long gaming sessions.
Display

Display is one of the most important factors when gaming, and OPPO has gone all-in on it too. The K13 Turbo features a beautiful 6.8-inch 1.5K LTPS AMOLED display, with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. It’s big, pretty, and coupled with the 10-bit color space, makes for an amazing movie-watching and gaming experience.
Outdoor visibility was solid too, thanks to the 1600 nits of peak brightness. I never had any problems with reading texts or watching videos in direct sunlight.
Performance & Software

For gaming phones, performance is what usually makes or breaks the experience. The K13 Turbo houses the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 8450 processor, with 1 Cortex-A725 core at 3250 MHz, 3 Cortex-A725 cores at 3000 MHz, and 4 Cortex-A725 cores at 2100 MHz, along with the Mali-G720 MP7 GPU. Besides, my review unit came with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
As expected, the K13 Turbo gets every work done. The processor breezes past any task, be it using the cameras, quickly switching between apps, or just watching some YouTube. OPPO has done an excellent job of optimizing the UI to iron out any bugs, and the 120Hz refresh rate is the cherry on top.
Speaking of the UI, ColorOS remains the best Android skin, with the smoothest animations, useful features, and intuitive options. The phone also comes with a dedicated gaming mode, allowing you to choose between different performance modes and a whole host of different macros. That said, it’s important to mention that OPPO has promised to give only 2 years of software updates and 3 years of security patches, which in 2025 is quite behind other competitors like OnePlus and vivo.
Benchmarks & Gaming

Since this is a review, I ran a series of benchmarks to put the K13 Turbo and its cooling system to the test. After turning on the fan to its maximum, the K13 Turbo scored 1436 and 5984 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. This score puts it in a similar performance bracket as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip found in the OnePlus Nord 5.
On the other hand, in AnTuTu, the K13 Turbo scored 1,593,233 points. Moving further, I was quite excited to test out the fan during the infamous 50-thread 30-minute CPU throttle test, and the results did not disappoint. The K13 Turbo didn’t get noticeably warm and throttled to 77% of its peak performance.
Moving to gaming, the good news continues. That’s because OPPO has collaborated with big names like BGMI and CODM to enable 120Hz gaming. And as a former professional PUBG player, I tested the gaming capabilities extensively, ranging from quick one-match sessions to multiple back-to-back rounds spanning a couple of hours.
To make things difficult, I turned off the AC in my room when gaming, which typically causes all phones to overheat and drop frames. But thanks to the fan, that wasn’t the case with the K13 Turbo, which consistently delivered 120 Hz in games and wasn’t hot.
Battery Life

At 7,000 mAh, there is no other way to put it, the battery life of the K13 Turbo is spectacular. Even with long BGMI sessions, followed by taking camera samples at the event, I could not kill the phone in one day. It is easily a two-day phone and can withstand almost everything you throw at it.
OPPO hasn’t left any stone unturned in the charging department, too. That’s because the K13 Turbo comes with an 80 W charger in the box, which can take it from 1% to 100% in less than an hour. There’s also bypass charging for gamers who like to game while charging, but don’t want to damage the battery.
Cameras

OPPO had to cut back some corners for performance, and the camera is the place they chose. That’s because the K13 Turbo houses a single 50 MP OmniVision 50D40 sensor, with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS. But that doesn’t mean it’s not good.
I used the K13 Turbo’s camera to capture an event in Delhi, and the results, especially in ample lighting, were pretty good. The images had a good amount of sharpness, accurate colors, and decent HDR. The phone did struggle with white balance issues in some scenarios, but they weren’t frequent. Portrait shots were largely aesthetic, too, with accurate colors, skin tones, and near-perfect edge detection.
Moving to low lighting, the images held up decently well. But as expected, there was a noticeable amount of grain, and sharpness wasn’t always on point. Also, there was some shutter delay, so capturing fast-moving objects can be a bit challenging. At last, the 16 MP camera is really good, with visually appealing images in both day and artificial lighting conditions.
Should you buy the OPPO K13 Turbo?

At INR 27,999, if you’re someone who prefers performance over anything, not many phones come close to the K13 Turbo. It gets a lot of things right, giving you spectacular performance, an all-new cooling system that actually works, a pretty design, and a super sharp and colorful display.
Sure, the lack of having multiple focal lengths in the form of an UltraWide or a telephoto lens does limit its capabilities. Still, the primary lens does produce some good-looking photos in almost all conditions. And that’s why the OPPO K13 Turbo gets my recommendation.

What every U.K. AI startup wants to know these days is, how can I get office space in King’s Cross?
The area is so hot that a VC firm allegedly recently won a deal by promising a founder office space in the neighborhood. “We stop at nothing to win deals [for] and to support” founders, “including helping them source office space when needed,” the firm told me when asked about the rumor, declining to confirm or deny any details.
The neighborhood’s popularity began back in 2016 when DeepMind — then newly acquired by Google — moved in. Soon after, a flood of AI startups followed, wanting to be around the Google DeepMind magic. Today, they hope to take advantage of the cluster of AI talent there.
This has transformed King’s Cross into one of the world’s top AI hubs, rivaled only by San Francisco and Beijing. Around London, it’s known by the sobriquet “Knowledge Quarter,” as it’s home to names like OpenAI, Meta, Isomorphic Labs, Cusp AI, Wayne, Recursive, and, a little farther down the road, Synthesia and Anthropic. The European Technology Network (ETN) just moved into a glossy new office nearby, while University College London sits around the corner.
Mixed in with the new developments are trendy food spots like Hoppers and BAO. Hop a train from King’s Cross, and founders can be in Cambridge in 45 minutes to source talent or can be in Paris in two hours to strike a deal.
Who would have guessed that a little more than 20 years ago, this was one of the seediest areas in London?
“In the ’80s, crack and heroin made the area a major narcotics market,” Hussein Kanji, an investor at Hoxton Ventures, said, recalling syringes in tree trunks and gangs patrolling the streets. “In 1982, the local church was occupied by the English Collective of Prostitutes for 12 straight days.” Then, in the early 2000s, a real estate developer had a dream and, well, “now it is the AI hotbed of the United Kingdom,” Kanji said. “What a change.” Around 18 months ago, his portfolio company BioCorteX moved from the neighborhood Holborn to the Jellicoe building in King’s Cross, hoping to be near the action. “Lots going on in London right now,” Nik Sharma, co-founder of BioCorteX, told me. “Lots of hyperscalers moving in.” That includes, reportedly, Jeff Bezos’ AI company Prometheus, which is also said to be in talks to move into the Jellicoe.
There are around 3,600 AI startups in London, which, together, have raised around .1 billion out of the .8 billion raised in the city since late July, according to Dealroom. Since the start of June, AI-related startups have leased more than 1 million square feet of office space in London, according to the real estate firm Knight Frank. With that, prime rents in King’s Cross have risen 18% over the past three years, Chris Dunn, a commercial insight associate at the firm, told me. That percentage represents only the largest leases encompassing at least 10,000 square feet, like the ones OpenAI and Prometheus are signing. The shorter deals go for even more, he said, and now the vacancy rate for conventional office space is just 0.9%. “Demand has outstripped supply,” he continued.
Today, one of the big topics of the area is sovereignty. It was a wake-up call for many when Anthropic shut off access to Mythos and Fable this summer, leaving some in the ecosystem to conclude: “We’d better look after ourselves,” Saul Klein, co-founder of the VC firm Phoenix Court, told me.
Phoenix Court is located in the King’s Cross area and has three portfolio companies in the vicinity, including Olix (which just announced a .3 billion valuation), Early Health and CoMind. Robin Klein, co-founder of the firm, said the shutdown of Fable and Mythos access was a “small but sharp reminder that Europe can’t simply rent its AI capabilities and capacity; it needs to build and hold some of its own.” King’s Cross, he said, is where much of this building is actually happening.
“The bigger question,” he continued, “is whether the U.K. builds the infrastructure, compute, energy, capital, to make this self-reliance durable, rather than just hosting outposts of U.S. labs.”

Top founders want to stay
Simon Kohl, founder of Latent Labs, has offices in King’s Cross and San Francisco. The London office, at the moment, is growing faster, and he’s more bullish than ever on the ecosystem, he said. “The mood right now feels less like London trying to catch up and more like London becoming one of the default places to start a serious AI company,” he said. Look around and you are likely to see Wayve testing its autonomous cars. Founded in 2017 by co-founder Alex Kendall, the unicorn is one of London’s biggest success stories.
“Ten years ago, building a frontier AI company from London felt like an unusual choice,” Kendall told me. “Now it feels like an obvious one.” Wayve moved into King’s Cross in 2018 looking for a space that could double as a garage — “a rare combination in Central London,” Kendall said. He has watched the ecosystem mature around him — and it’s now evident that a startup can stay in London, raise serious capital, hire world-class AI talent, and remain globally competitive, he said. Down the street from Anthropic’s new 158,000-square-foot office is the AI agent builder Sierra and the AI video platform Synthesia.
Laura Gonzalez Florez, Synthesia’s chief of staff and head of people, says the company moved into its glossy new office building a year ago to accommodate its growing team. They were drawn to the area for the same reason as everyone else: “It’s very close to the airport … very close to where a lot of investors are,” she said.

Around two-thirds of Synthesia’s engineers are remote, Gonzalez Florez said, letting the company tap into an affordable, international, and diverse talent pool and helping it scale faster. “From London, we can hire and work, without any problem, people from anywhere, from Slovenia to Portugal,” she said.
Unsurprisingly, London’s AI boom is also causing a talent war.U.K. AI job postings have skyrocketed in the past few years, per data from PwC. When Anthropic announced it moved into town earlier this year, it listed, for example, a salary range of £260,000 to £630,000 for a machine learning research engineer when the average salary in London for the same role is around £102,000. Some founders in the U.K., like those in Silicon Valley, are being forced to raise more and bigger rounds to keep up.
“The real test is whether more globally significant AI companies are founded, funded, and scaled from the U.K., while continuing to attract the world’s best talent to build them here,” Zain Ali, founder of the King’s Cross-based AI legal firm Centuro, told me. “If that continues to happen, King’s Cross won’t just be an AI hub. It’ll become one of the U.K.’s most important strategic assets.”
