A man came terrifyingly close to catastrophe during a rope jump from a bridge in Brazil’s Minas Gerais state, slamming violently into the concrete structure before plunging toward the water below.

Instead of a clean drop and swing, his body collides hard with a massive pillar supporting the bridge. Onlookers gasp and react in shock as the impact sends him spinning.

Just days earlier, a 21-year-old woman named Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas was thrown to her death from the infamous Ponte do Esqueleto, the “Skeleton Bridge”, in São Paulo state. Instructors allegedly failed to attach her safety rope before hurling her off the roughly 130-foot drop. She plummeted straight to the ground and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with the tragedy.

The resurfaced Minas Gerais video is now circulating alongside that fatal case, painting a grim picture of systemic problems: old abandoned bridges turned into thrill rides, questionable safety margins, inadequate training, and operators who seem to treat basic precautions as optional.
