Ted Lasso wasn’t supposed to continue after its third season, but here we are back on the field for season 4. And some people will blame “The Hollywood Machine” for that. After all, a beloved TV series can be the ultimate money-maker, so why not crank out more seasons of any show? But series star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis made sure that season 4 wouldn’t be a stale match. So, is it possible that the creative team is gearing up for season 5?

As Sudeikis put it, his motive for continuing Ted’s story in London was simply that he “needed” it.

“I know I needed this,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in July 2026. “I needed it as much as other people do.”

Find out whether Ted Lasso was renewed for season 5 below.

When Does Ted Lasso Season 4 Come Out?

Season 4 premiered on August 5, 2026, on Apple TV. Episodes will drop on the streamer every Wednesday until this October.

Who Is in the Ted Lasso Season 4 Cast?

The main cast of season 4 features Sudeikis as the titular coach character, in addition to co-stars Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) and Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein).

Unfortunately, multiple original cast members from past seasons will not reprise their roles, including Phil Dunster, Nich Mohammed, James Lance, Cristo Fernández and Anthony Head, who died just two months ahead of the season 4 premiere.

Will There Be a Season 5 of Ted Lasso?

A fifth season has not been confirmed by Apple TV yet at the time of publication. That decision will depend on viewership and ratings, but the cast and crew haven’t given up hope.

Per THR, if “all goes according to plan,” the Ted Lasso creative team “will be back in the writers room in late August mapping out a not-yet-ordered season 5. Once again, Sudeikis has a three-season arc in mind, and he’s hopeful that the audience will still be there.”

The series has been celebrated for its feel-good and buoyant energy, specifically within the main character, but it’s also bee praised for tackling difficult issues, such as anxiety and relationships.

“It is infectious to play a character who sees the best in people and isn’t mad at the world for all its foibles and bullies and shadows,” Sudeikis told THR. “It’s not like I’m Daniel Day-Lewis, but it was good to live in that — to have that coursing through your brain and your body all day.”
