Seven-time All-Star guard Skylar Diggins signed as a free agent with the Chicago Sky, the team announced Saturday.
Terms weren’t divulged, but reports pointed to a two-year deal.
Diggins, 35, has career averages of 16.4 points, 5.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 335 games over 11 seasons.
“Skylar is a player we have coveted for years. We are ecstatic to bring her to Chicago,” Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a news release. “She is one of the all-time elite passers in our game and continues to play at a high level on both sides of the ball.”
Diggins ranks eighth in WNBA history with 1,768 career assists and 25th with 5,489 points. She spent the past two seasons with the Seattle Storm. Last year, she averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 assists in 43 games.
“Diggins is the kind of player who elevates everyone around her,” Chicago coach Tyler Marsh said. “Skylar is a true veteran leader, and she possesses unmatched speed and shot creation potential. I can’t wait to work with her.”
The Sky also signed forward Azura Stevens to a reported three-year deal and acquired guard Jacy Sheldon from the Washington Mystics for a first-round draft pick in 2028 on Saturday.
Earlier in the week, Chicago dealt rebounding force Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream for two first-round picks (2027, 2028) and the option to swap second-round picks in 2028.

The Miami Heat are guaranteed a fourth straight year in the play-in round, but — with one game left in the regular season — there’s still something for Miami to chase.
On Sunday night, the Heat (42-39) will host the Atlanta Hawks (46-35). If Miami beats Atlanta and Charlotte loses at the New York Knicks, the Heat will have home-court advantage against the Hornets in a do-or-die play-in game next week.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said he would’ve preferred to have made the playoff round outright, but …
“We’re there (in the play-in),” he said. “We still have an opportunity to get home court (against Charlotte). We want to maximize that opportunity.”
On Friday, the Heat broke a two-game losing streak with a 140-117 win at Washington. The Heat are just 4-10 over their past 14 games but are 7-1 in games in which they make at least 20 3-pointers.
Indeed, Miami shot 20 of 37 from deep on Friday, and the Heat did that despite playing without several key players who are injured: Tyler Herro (right foot), Norman Powell (groin), Davion Mitchell (right shoulder), Dru Smith (right foot), and Nikola Jovic (left ankle).
Their status for the game vs. the Hawks is uncertain, but the Heat have solid depth, as they showed on Friday with Simone Fontecchio and Pelle Larsson scoring 24 points each, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. adding 23. Bam Adebayo contributed 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Fontecchio, who has played 70 games this season, got just his ninth start of the campaign on Friday, and he earned praise from Spoelstra.
“He has always kept himself ready,” Spoelstra said. “He’s done a lot of things that have made me take notice. He’s one of our better rebounders. He gives us positional size, and he’s ignitable as a shooter. If he sees a couple go down, it can be an avalanche from there.”
Meanwhile, the Hawks have clinched their first playoff berth since 2023. Atlanta, the Southeast Division champion, will be seeded either fifth or sixth. The team’s first-round opponent will be either the Cavaliers if Atlanta holds on to the fifth seed, or the Knicks if the Hawks slip to sixth.
Atlanta, which has not won a playoff series since 2021, is led by Jalen Johnson, a first-time All-Star this season. He tops the Hawks in scoring (22.5 points per game), rebounds (10.3 per game), and assists (7.9).
Johnson had 18 points, nine rebounds, and two assists in just 25 minutes in Atlanta’s 124-102 playoff-clinching win over visiting Cleveland on Friday.
Dyson Daniels, CJ McCollum, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker are three more Hawks players to watch.
Daniels had his second career triple-double on Friday with 13 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. For the season, he averages 11.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists and a team-high 2.0 steals.
Alexander-Walker is second on the Hawks in scoring (20.8 ppg), and McCollum is third (18.7). McCollum scored a game-high 29 points on Friday.
“These guys believed we could do this,” Hawks coach Quin Snyder said when asked about making the playoffs. “This year is about building a foundation. That, regardless of what happens going forward, is a win. We’re excited.”

Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper hit back-to-back home runs to highlight the Philadelphia Phillies’ 4-3 victory over the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday afternoon.
Taijuan Walker (1-2) bounced back after a rough first inning to get the Phillies through five frames. He gave up two runs – both in the first – on four hits and two walks, striking out six to help Philadelphia snap a three-game slide.
Adrian Del Castillo had three hits and Ketel Marte homered for Arizona, which had won five of its previous six games. Diamondbacks starter Brandon Pfaadt (0-1) gave up four runs – three earned – and five hits over six innings, walking three and striking out six.
Arizona got off to a great start, as Marte hit Walker’s third pitch of the game over the wall in right-center field for a 1-0 lead.
Corbin Carroll followed with a walk and advanced on a groundout. The next hitter was Del Castillo, who delivered an RBI single to make it 2-0.
Philadelphia went down quietly against Pfaadt in the first and second innings before an error by shortstop Geraldo Perdomo led to a four-run rally in the third.
After Alec Bohm reached on Perdomo’s miscue, Justin Crawford singled and Trea Turner struck out. Pfaadt then tried to get a 1-0 changeup past Schwarber, who launched it into the seats in right field to put the hosts ahead.
Two pitches later, Harper sent a fastball into the Phillies’ bullpen in right-center, making it 4-2.
Schwarber’s fourth home run and Harper’s third of the season proved to be enough support for Walker, who induced a double play to get through the fifth.
Tim Mayza, Orion Kerkering and Jose Alvarado combined to get through the sixth and seventh innings.
Brad Keller ran into some two-out trouble in the eighth, as he allowed a walk and two hits – including Jose Fernandez’s single that sliced Arizona’s deficit to 4-3. However, Keller struck out Nolan Arenado with the tying run on third base to end the inning.
Jhoan Duran had no issues in the ninth, retiring the side in order for his fifth save.
New Zealand is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on Monday for the white-ball tour, which includes three ODIs and three T20Is.
The opening two ODIs will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on April 17 and 20, followed by the third on April 23 at Chattogram.

Bangladesh named an unchanged squad on Saturday for the first two matches of the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, the first announcement by a newly formed selection panel.
The four-member panel, led by Habibul Bashar Sumon, opted to stick with the same group that featured in the ODI series against Pakistan last month, citing continuity and overall team performance.
Bangladesh beat Pakistan 2-1 in the home ODI series.
“Our policy is to give adequate opportunities to anyone who comes into the team. We believe in continuity, which is why we did not change the team for this series,” Habibul, who took over last month, told reporters.
The selectors also backed out-of-form opener Saif Hassan, who managed just 52 runs in three matches in the Pakistan series.
“We want to give him more opportunities before making a decision. We do not want to go into a chop-and-change approach,” he said.

Ridly Greig scored a short-handed goal in the first period and Jake Sanderson added a power-play goal in the third, lifting the Ottawa Senators to a 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon in Elmont, N.Y.
Michael Amadio added an empty-net goal late in the third and Linus Ullmark stopped all 23 shots he faced for the Senators (43-27-10, 96 points), who won their fourth straight game.
They can clinch a playoff berth for the second consecutive season if the New Jersey Devils defeat the Detroit Red Wings later on Saturday.
The Senators and Boston Bruins (43-27-10, 96 points) are tied atop the wild-card standings.
Ilya Sorokin recorded 13 saves for the Islanders (43-32-5, 91 points), who went 0-for-5 on the power play. They fell to 1-1-0 under Peter DeBoer and lost for the fifth time in six games overall.
New York’s only path to the playoffs is outlasting the Philadelphia Flyers for the third and final postseason spot in the Metropolitan Division. The Islanders entered Saturday one point behind the Flyers (40-27-12, 92 points), who are scheduled to visit the Winnipeg Jets later Saturday.
The Islanders were in the midst of their first scoreless power play when the Senators notched the only goal they’d need.
Greig pestered Pageau and forced the puck loose in the Ottawa zone, where Amadio got a stick on the puck just before New York defenseman Tony DeAngelo. Amadio chased down the puck and dished a backhanded pass between Lee’s legs to Greig, who managed to flick a shot past Sorokin’s glove with Pageau in pursuit.
Defenseman Carson Soucy and Ryan Pulock were whistled for tripping 34 seconds apart to set up the 5-on-3 that led to the Senators’ second goal with 7:24 left. Dylan Cozens’ shot from the left faceoff circle glanced off Sorokin, who couldn’t smother the puck before Sanderson surged past Matthew Schaefer and buried the rebound.
Sorokin was pulled with more than five minutes left but the Islanders didn’t mount a serious threat before Amadio iced the win with 2:31 remaining.

The IPL has quietly rewritten how it polices over-rate offences.
In previous seasons, captains faced a one-match ban after three slow over-rate violations. That rule is now gone. Instead, the league has moved towards a system that prioritises financial penalties and in-game disadvantages over outright suspensions.
The shift mirrors the International Cricket Council’s approach, with the introduction of demerit points. Every sanction imposed by the match referee adds to a player’s or official’s tally, and those points stay on record for 36 months. The threat, then, is less immediate but more cumulative, a slow burn rather than a sudden hit.
It is not just the captain who pays.
Under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct:
The captain is fined Rs. 24 lakh for a second offence
Every other member of the playing XI, including the Impact Player, is fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25% of their match fee (whichever is lower)
There is also the possibility of in-match fielding restrictions, which can be far more damaging in tight contests than any post-match fine.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ case against prediction market Kalshi appears to have hit a snag.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced Friday that it has won a temporary restraining order preventing the state from pursuing its criminal case against Kalshi (whose CEO Tarek Mansour is pictured above).

Riley Greene homered, singled and drove in four runs on Saturday afternoon as the Detroit Tigers defeated the visiting Miami Marlins for the second straight game, 6-1.
Greene had an RBI single in the first inning and has reached base safely in all 15 games this season.
In the third inning, after falling behind quickly in the count, 0-2, Greene fouled off five pitches and evened the count at 2-2 before sending a 408-foot, three-run shot to right center off Miami starter Janson Junk.
Colt Keith added an RBI double for Detroit, which has won two straight games after losing five in a row. Spencer Torkelson walked twice and had an RBI single in the eighth inning to extend Detroit’s lead to 6-1.
Tigers starter Casey Mize allowed one run on six hits and struck out five in 5 2/3 innings to improve to 1-1. Greene reached base three times and also had a stolen base, and Kerry Carpenter added a double.
Otto Lopez had two doubles to lead the Marlins, who fell to 1-4 on the road this season. Connor Norby doubled, and his sacrifice fly in the fourth that scored Liam Hicks accounted for Miami’s only run.
Junk (0-2) allowed five runs on five hits and struck out four to lose his second consecutive start. The Marlins made two errors and left nine runners on base.
Miami stranded at least one runner in every inning except the eighth, the only frame in which Tigers’ pitching had a 1-2-3 inning.
The Marlins missed a chance to make the game closer in the sixth. Lopez reached on a one-out error, and Norby followed one batter later with a ground-rule double that barely eluded right fielder Wenceel Perez’s glove.
Drew Anderson, who came on in relief of Mize, induced a groundout to short by Graham Pauley to end the threat.
Anderson’s fifth relief appearance this season was his longest of the season — and his best. He did not allow a hit in 3 1/3 scoreless innings while walking two and striking out two.
He retired Jakob Marsee on a groundout to first after a 14-pitch at bat to end the game and earn his first save as the Tigers improved to 4-1 at home.
