I work in a health and wellness store. A customer pulls a bag of fat burners out of her bag.
Customer: “I need a refund for these.”
Me: “They’ve been opened, so I can only refund them if—”
Customer: “—I’ve been taking them all week, and I haven’t lost any weight!”
Me: “Well… they’re different for every person, and they usually take a while to have any noticeable effect.”
Customer: “Fine! How long before I lose weight?”
Me: “Well… I can’t answer that, ma’am. It depends on how you’ve changed your diet since you started trying to lose weight, plus exercise—”
Customer: “—What?! I ain’t done none of that! I bought the d*** pills so that I didn’t have to!”
Me: “So you haven’t changed your diet or increased your exercise since you started taking the fat burners?”
Customer: “No! I shouldn’t have to!”
Me: “These are weight loss supplements. As in, to assist you in losing weight. They aren’t a magic pill to make you lose weight all on their own.”
Customer: “Well then you should lower the price because they aren’t powerful enough! Give me some money back on them!”
Me: “I’m afraid I can’t do that. The item you purchased is not defective, and it has been opened.”
Customer: “It is defective because I only had KFC twice this week and I still gained weight!”
