Customer: “Why does [Grocery Store] support Sharia law?”

Me: “Uh… pardon?”

Customer: “Why does [Grocery Store] support Sharia law?”

Me: “Okay, so I did hear you correctly the first time. Why are you asking that?”

Customer: “Because of your meat section!”

He points to a specific part of our meat aisle: the halal section. It’s not huge, but the signage is very clear.

Me: “Having a halal section doesn’t mean we support Sharia law.”

Customer: “Then why do you have it?”

Me: “To provide for our wide range of customers.”

Customer: “So you feed terrorists?!”

Me: “Okay, we’re done here.”

Customer: “I’m going to write to my MP to complain about this!”

Me: “When you do, tell them we’re having a buy-two-for-a-fiver on all packs of pork sausages!”
